Listen and Obey for the Glory of Heaven

DAILY REFLECTION

52of366days: LISTEN AND OBEY FOR THE GLORY OF HEAVEN

This is my chosen Son; listen to him. (Luke 9:35)

Three things in today’s readings:
1. Listen to Jesus.

God wants us to listen to Jesus. The transfiguration of Jesus showed us His divinity and the voice of God affirms His appointment as the Messiah who was sent for our salvation.
2. Obedience yields great rewards.

The first reading showed us that Abram’s obedience yields the fulfillment of God’s promises. He obeyed exactly what God commanded Him which later produce great rewards. May this set as an example to us. Let us obey God. Let us obey His command to listen to Jesus. And if we do this, great rewards awaits us.
3. Heaven is for those who follow God.

In the second reading, St. Paul stated directly that there are only two sides: the good and the evil. The good are those who obey God and the evil are those who opposes God. And those who choose to obey God are the ones who will see heaven.

Today, God is clearly telling us to obey His commands so we can enter heaven. Let us choose to obey Him – let us listen to Jesus.

Calming the Storms

DAILY REFLECTION

6of366days: CALMING THE STORMS

My mind is breaking. My body is aching. My heart is crying. My soul is yearning. But you, O Lord, came and rescued me. You healed me. You saved me. You comforted me. Because You alone can calm the raging battles within me. You alone, Lord. You, alone. (c. LAJC)
Just like the apostles in today’s gospel, we already knew Jesus. He already taught us many things. He had already fed our hungry bodies and souls. And still, when the storms in our lives come, we become disoriented. We cried out and become hopeless. We get weary and we forget.

Today, Jesus is telling you, be still and know that He is here. He is here to hear you, heal you, save you and comfort you. He is here to calm you.

Seizing the Moment

Today is the oldest I have been and the youngest I will be, so I’ll seize every moment to discover and learn new things, have fun and be the best I could ever be!

Life is a gift I receive everyday and I’ll always be honored and grateful for it. And this gift will not go into waste because each second will be of good use, all for His greater glory.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
